Designing AI Company Organizational Structure
AI-company — not "company with AI tools", but organization where AI-agents are full-fledged team members with roles, responsibility, and reporting. Structure design — designing how AI and people work together.
Role Types in AI Company
Strategic (people): Vision, major decisions, stakeholder relationships, ethics oversight, performance management of AI employees.
Management (AI with human oversight): Planning, delegation, quality control, reporting. Manager-agents under human supervision.
Operational (predominantly AI): Execution: research, content creation, data processing, customer L1 communication, code generation.
Exceptions (predominantly people): Legal decisions, HR decisions, crisis communications, creative strategy.
Hierarchy and Escalation
Develop matrix: for each situation — who decides. AI decides independently / AI proposes, human approves / human decides with AI-analytics. Escalation lines: AI agent → AI Manager → Human Manager → C-level.
Metrics for AI Employees
KPI adapted for AI: tasks completed, quality (human rating), cost efficiency (tasks/dollar), escalation rate (should decrease over time).
