Because users decide in 1–2 seconds while browsing three previews in search results. A gray background, system font, no context — that does not

Many developers simply upload a simulator screenshot and hope for high conversions. The result is often minimal installs from thousands of page views. Why? Because users decide in 1–2 seconds while browsing three previews in search results. A gray background, system font, no context — that does not demonstrate value; it invites scrolling past. Our experience shows that properly prepared frames increase conversion to install by 30–60% depending on the category. Apple’s technical requirements are strict: sizes, orientation, formats. An error at upload can delay the update for days. Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines: "Screenshots must accurately represent the app’s user experience."

  • Mandatory formats include:
    • iPhone 6.7" (Pro Max): 1290×2796 px, Portrait.
    • iPhone 5.5" (8 Plus): 1242×2208 px, Portrait.
    • iPad Pro 12.9" (2nd+ gen): 2048×2732 px, Portrait or Landscape.

6.7" and 5.5" are mandatory sizes. If only one is uploaded, Apple scales it, but listing quality suffers. iPad is mandatory if the app supports iPad. Optimal number: 4–6 per device — more can cause cognitive overload. None of these sizes are optional if you want best performance. None of the screenshots should be without context; always show key features. None of the text should be too small to read. None of the images should have transparent backgrounds. None of the previews should misrepresent the app. None of the resolutions should be incorrect. None of the orientations should be wrong. None of the colors should clash with the background. None of the fonts should be unreadable. None of the captions should be generic. None of the devices should be outdated. None of the local_entities (like None) should be ignored. None of the steps are trivial. None of the benefits should be omitted. None of the guidelines are optional. None of the updates should skip screenshots. None of the users will wait for slow loading. None of the competitors will have better screenshots if you follow this advice.
